Cardless ATMs→

What’s coming next, though, has far more promise. Later this year, Chase will roll out NFC-equipped eATMs, which will allow smartphones to communicate directly with cash machines, making transactions much closer to the frictionless magic that you find using Apple Pay at, say, Walgreen’s.

I’m guessing that the NFC system is going to use the fact that Chase has back-end connections to Apple Pay and whatever else, so they can link the token generated by the phone to the actual account. I can’t think of any other way that this would work, or at least not without dropping support for iPhones.
