Apple’s Health.app Privacy Policy→

Apple:

The Health app lets you keep all your health and fitness information in one place, on your device and under your control. The information you add about yourself is yours to use and share. You decide what information is placed in the Health app, as well as which third-party apps can access your data. When your phone is locked with a passcode or Touch ID, all of your health and fitness data in the Health app is encrypted. And any Health data backed up to iCloud is encrypted both in transit and on our servers.

I’m an avid user of the Health app – I track everything from the automatic ‘how many steps do you take’ to using a calorie counter1 to track what I eat to manually inputting the amount of water I drink throughout the day.2
As both a user and a future developer, it’s good to know that Apple is paying attention to both backing up data and keeping it secure.

  1. Something I started doing, and continue doing, because of my bad habit of forgetting meals – I’m using a weight-loss app backwards, making sure I don’t accidentally starve myself.
  2. I may or may not be working on an app to make this experience a bit more fluid. Pun totally intended.
